Why You Should Add 35mm Film to Your Wedding Photos
I love that film photography is having her moment! Film offers a nostalgic, timeless addition to photos that just can’t be 100% replicated with a digital camera. The dreamy quality inherent to film images lends a softness and ethereal feel that complements the same vibe of your wedding day.
Emily and Ben got married at Yokayo Ranch, in the heart of Mendocino County in Northern California. If their day wasn’t enough of a dream, the film emphasized the timeless romance of their wedding. All of these images were captured on a mix of 35mm and 120mm Kodak professional film cameras.
Yokayo Ranch is surrounded by rolling hills which are home to massive oak and redwood trees. The surrounding area is filled with organic farms and family run wineries. The property spans across 40 acres, and a bunch of that space is dedicated to their farm. Yokayo Ranch is a perfect place to celebrate, hang out, and gather with loved ones. Emily and Ben really leaned into that, planning a wedding weekend full of love, with their closest family and friends surrounding them.
Shooting film definitely influences the way I approach digital photography. It allows me to slow down and keep my eyes open for those moments you just can’t make up! Integrating film into your wedding photos not only captures the moments of your special day, but also imprints them with a timeless and artful quality. If you're looking to add an artful, timeless layer of storytelling of your wedding photos, I highly recommend reaching out about adding film!
